Direct to Consumer Lifestyle Brand Away announces three new executive appointments to strengthen its leadership team ahead of significant growth plans.
In a statement, Away said Charles Liu, Melissa Weiss and Luke Chattelin will join the ranks as chief operating officer, marketing officer and chief digital officer.
As Charles Liu invested heavily in business infrastructure and entered the next phase of development, he joined Away as the first Chief Operating Officer to lead the baggage company from end-to-end supply chain and business technology teams. He was most recently the Chief Operating Officer of Casper and has previously held leadership roles at Walmart, Shoko and Walgreens.
Joining Liu Melissa Weiss is the newly appointed Chief Marketing Officer of Away, which oversees brand marketing, growth marketing, innovation and communications. Away added that Weiss, head of marketing at the Lift Microromobility Division, will have a strategic focus on building brand bonds while driving revenue. Weiss has worked at Barry Button Campus, Theory and Amazon Fashion.
The luggage company Away will strengthen its leadership team ahead of its “major growth” plans.
Third Appointment Luke Chatleline is Away’s first Chief Digital Officer. Chateline oversees digital production, UX, and awareness teams to ensure that the brand is “deeply connected to the business and the customer to pioneer new solutions.” He previously served as Vice President, Innovation and Digital Production, and most recently J.T. Crew Chief Digital Officer Drives Digital Transformation.
Away’s added appointments highlight the continued revitalization of the brand, which has halted its journey following the epidemic and allowed the business to grow.
Commenting on the appointments, Away CEO Jane Rubio said: “This is a very exciting time on Away. After an unusually challenging time for the travel industry, we are witnessing growing customer demand and seeing significant results in all categories.
“We are thrilled to welcome Charles, Melissa and Luke to our leadership team as we prepare for our next stage of development and the crucial year ahead. I look forward to seeing how it helps to develop and open Away’s unrestricted future.
He described Away 2021 as a “year of recovery,” and expanded his product list, including the launch of a partnership with Serena Williams and fashion designer Sandy Liang, as well as partnerships with leading brands from Marriott to KITH.
Leo, Weiss and Chattanooley will be joined by Ayn’s leadership team, with Katherine Dunlevin as Chief Financial Officer, Laura Willenski Business Manager, Quan Hanley Design Officer, Lydia Cheek General Consultant and Katie Covilio, Vice President for Public and Cultural Affairs.
