The Cuemath curriculum is very popular, with visual images, games, puzzles, simulations, and new technologies such as whiteboards and geography. Focus on the content

Build the example

The first online classroom had a basic framework for using math content. The group had classes on emphasis. At the time, they had a small team of three to four engineers and a product manager. It took the team two months to develop the model.

“Creating a new product is a long process that requires deep R&D. The first idea of ​​the product can come from asking the right questions, it is not enough.

Several factors are considered. The group first focused on characteristics to build a core learning experience. At the same time, they are exposing features such as chatboards and AV calls that are not in their core knowledge.

Before the team was last marketed, it first launched a product for a closed group of users on behalf of TG. This strategy helped the team verify their initial response, record feedback, and adjust the product based on customer perceptions.

Looking at customer feedback

“The team’s initial response was encouraging and positive, and we received some feedback on the main features of the product, especially the interactive worksheets. Since then, Kumat has come a long way.

Prior to the outbreak, online education was less than 10 percent of their income. However, the team was able to build a stable and high-performance technology platform as it locked in to meet the growing demand for online learning methods.

“It was during this time that we expanded our work and began to reach an international audience. Last year, when millions of K-12 students switched to online education, we trained our teacher base (8,000) and brought them online,” Mana said.

In the midst of its expansion efforts, the team realized that many of the third-party apps it used needed to be customized to provide the best user experience. It was then that they decided to build these from the ground up to the home to ensure a seamless user experience and the cause of digital-first learning. Efforts have been paid “wonderfully”.

Moving 40,000 students online

“At the beginning of the epidemic, we had to transfer about 40,000 students and 8,000 teachers to an online model of offline learning. There were challenges in measuring the system with short notice and getting an online curriculum. Other challenges include integrating user data, quantifying teachers, and training internal teams to use the online platform seamlessly. The struggle has borne fruit. Today we are growing at 3X speed, ”says Manan.

The team had a micro-service approach to building systems and was able to streamline production.

After the first few weeks of training and developing a business continuity plan, the team focused on following user feedback-based behaviors, which helped address key consumer pain points.

The main stage was built by the Cumaath team. But, before long, the team of engineers worked on the most influential features – such as background architecture for interactive sheets and third-party integration such as whiteboard and AV calls.

The main difference

Manan said the team has grown significantly over the past 15 months.

“As the demand for mathematics online education increased and the country was locked in indefinitely, we began to see the importance of team building. While the outbreak has opened the floodgates for Edtech players to expand their user base, we understand the internal challenges that Kumat students and parents face in math. Other players in the market offer one-on-one tutoring but we are ahead of the price. That’s because of our years of experience in developing effective curricula, ”says Manan.

The team said they understand that each child has his or her own pace of learning and strive to tailor math to their needs.

“Other EDTK platforms have too many students or provide pre-recorded videos to students. In cuemath, we conduct one-on-one instruction when a teacher communicates directly with students through audio, video, and chat. Each class will have less than six students, which will help the student get enough time and attention from the teacher. As teachers monitor every step and give clues wherever needed, the personalized workspaces will allow students to be released intelligently, ”explains Mana.

At the time of the outbreak, the team developed a well-developed online learning platform for international students. Many of the teachers who teach on the platform are well-trained, know how to use the technology, and have already taught international students in this forum.

Take a ‘jump’

Teachers who do not teach international students were quickly trained and skilled and ready to take classes on a digital platform. More than 95 percent of teachers are equipped with the tools, infrastructure, training, and skills to make the transition to online teaching within two weeks of school closure.
